Description
Predicted to enable magnesium ion transmembrane transporter activity. Involved in negative regulation of BMP signaling pathway; negative regulation of synaptic assembly at neuromuscular junction; and positive regulation of axon extension involved in regeneration. Predicted to be active in membrane. Is expressed in several structures, including cuboidal/columnar epithelium; embryonic/larval dorsal vessel; gut section; larval central brain; and larval central nervous system. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in autosomal recessive congenital ichthyosis 6 and hereditary spastic paraplegia 6. Orthologous to several human genes including NIPAL1 (NIPA like domain containing 1).
