Description
Involved in several processes, including anterior/posterior axis specification; asymmetric cell division; and metaphase/anaphase transition of meiosis I. Predicted to be part of anaphase-promoting complex. Predicted to be active in nuclear periphery. Orthologous to human ANAPC4 (anaphase promoting complex subunit 4).
Probable component of the anaphase promoting complex/cyclosome (APC/C), a cell cycle-regulated E3 ubiquitin ligase that controls progression through mitosis and the G1 phase of the cell cycle (By similarity). The APC/C complex acts by mediating ubiquitination and subsequent degradation of target proteins (By similarity). Developmental role in early embryogenesis and the metaphase to anaphase transition in oocyte and spermatocyte meiosis and mitosis in somatic and germ cells (PMID: 10749938, PMID: 11134076, PMID: 12498686, PMID: 17237515). Required for embryonic anterior-posterior axis formation (PMID: 11832245). Negatively regulates ify-1 protein levels during meiosis I (PMID: 12498686). Plays a role in regulating the abundance of glr-1 receptors in postmitotic neurons, which may in turn control animal locomotion (PMID: 15556870). Involved in regulating GABA neurotransmitter release at neuromuscular junctions in GABA motor neurons (PMID: 24321454).
Highly accurate protein structure prediction with AlphaFold. Nature. 2021 Aug;596(7873):583-589. DOI:10.1038/s41586-021-03819-2. PMID:34265844; PMCID:PMC8371605
