Description
Enables cytoskeletal motor activity. Involved in anterograde axonal transport; establishment or maintenance of microtubule cytoskeleton polarity; and sensory perception of smell. Part of microtubule associated complex. Is expressed in several structures, including embryonic central brain neurons; female germline cell; ganglia; gonad; and sensory nervous system primordium. Used to study chromosome 16p11.2 deletion syndrome, 593-kb. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in retinitis pigmentosa 89. Orthologous to several human genes including KIF3B (kinesin family member 3B).
