Description
Enables transcription coregulator activity. Involved in canonical Wnt signaling pathway and determination of dorsal identity. Acts upstream of or within convergent extension and dorsal/ventral axis specification. Located in nucleus. Is expressed in corneal endothelium; lateral line system; oocyte; unfertilized egg; and vertebral column. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in several diseases, including autosomal dominant intellectual developmental disorder 19; exudative vitreoretinopathy 7; hepatocellular carcinoma (multiple); reproductive organ cancer (multiple); and urinary system cancer (multiple). Orthologous to human CTNNB1 (catenin beta 1).
