Description
Enables fructose-bisphosphate aldolase activity and phosphatidylcholine binding activity. Involved in several processes, including cellular response to insulin stimulus; response to fructose; and response to interleukin-6. Located in perinuclear region of cytoplasm; rough endoplasmic reticulum membrane; and smooth endoplasmic reticulum membrane. Used to study type 2 diabetes mellitus. Biomarker of liver benign neoplasm; peritonitis; and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in hereditary fructose intolerance syndrome and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Orthologous to human ALDOB (aldolase, fructose-bisphosphate B).
