Description
Predicted to enable transmembrane transporter activity. Predicted to be involved in several processes, including sodium-dependent phosphate transport; urate metabolic process; and urate transport. Predicted to be active in apical plasma membrane. Is expressed in cortical renal tubule and lower jaw molar. Orthologous to human SLC17A1 (solute carrier family 17 member 1).

- solute carrier family 17 (sodium/hydrogen exchanger), member 1
- solute carrier family 17 vesicular glutamate transporter), member 1
Important for the resorption of phosphate by the kidney. May be involved in actively transporting phosphate into cells via Na(+) cotransport in the renal brush border membrane. Plays a role in urate transport in the kidney.
