Description
Please note that currently there is no data available in PubChem associated with efn-4 - Ephrin-4 (Caenorhabditis elegans). However, annotations from external sources are available.
Predicted to enable ephrin receptor binding activity. Involved in several processes, including embryonic morphogenesis; nematode male tail tip morphogenesis; and regulation of axon guidance. Located in axon and neuronal cell body. Is expressed in several structures, including CAN; epithelial cell; ganglia; intestinal cell; and somatic nervous system. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in craniofrontonasal syndrome and dysostosis. Orthologous to several human genes including EFNB1 (ephrin B1).
Regulates the formation or stabilization of cell-cell contacts at several stages of epithelial morphogenesis (PMID: 12679110). In early embryonic development, involved in ventral closure of the epidermis (PMID: 12403719). During male tail morphogenesis, regulates precursor cell sorting together with mab-20 and allows the formation of distinct sensory rays (PMID: 15030761). Probably acts as a ligand for lad-2 to regulate axon guidance of several neurons including SDQL, SDQR, SMD and PLN neurons during neurogenesis (PMID: 26903502).
