Compound Summary for: CID 44566111

Pituitary Adenylate Cyclase-Activating Polypeptide

Also known as: CHEMBL524658; Peptide PACAP 38; Human PACAP-38; PACAP 38 (human); PACAP 38 (sheep); PACAP 38; Human PACAP-(1-38); Ovine PACAP (1-38)
Molecular Formula: C203H331N63O53S   Molecular Weight: 4534.25554   InChIKey: UFTCZKMBJOPXDM-XXFCQBPRSA-N
A multi-function neuropeptide that acts throughout the body by elevating intracellular cyclic AMP level via its interaction with PACAP RECEPTORS. Although first isolated from hypothalamic extracts and named for its action on the pituitary, it is widely distributed in the central and peripheral nervous systems. PACAP is important in the control of endocrine and homeostatic processes, such as secretion of pituitary and gut hormones and food intake.   From: MeSH
