Candesartan, a angiotensin-receptor blocker (ARB), is used alone or with other antihypertensive agents to treat hypertension. Candesartan competes with angiotensin II for binding at the AT1 receptor subtype. Unlike ACE inhibitors, ARBs do not have the adverse effect of dry cough.   From: DrugBank
